Sam Stewart is a founding member, Vice President and a Director of OneChild. Developing a passion for volunteerism at a very young age, Sam has since been involved with a wide variety of organizations and even helped to found a group in his high school dedicated to connecting students with volunteer opportunities.
At age 17, Sam travelled to Thailand on a volunteer mission, where he bore witness to the atrocities of the child sex trade. Returning to Canada with the resolve to help eradicate the phenomenon, he was led to Cheryl Perera. Working alongside Cheryl and other like-minded youth, he has inspired audiences to take a stand against the exploitation of children. In 2006, he travelled to the Philippines to visit the PREDA Foundation and was instrumental in undercover efforts to rescue children from local sex bars.
With the knowledge he gained during his travels to Thailand and the Philippines, Sam has been a powerful voice in the fight against this issue. He has addressed audiences of all sizes from high schools, universities, and international conferences.
Sam now 22, has an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from McMaster University and continues to combat the child sex trade with OneChild. Besides this work, Sam has spent several summers working for a children's summer camp in northern Ontario and is currently pursuing his lifelong goal of becoming a medical doctor.
